Our Mission:

CTC Academy of Fine Arts’ mission is to provide young people with a high quality, innovative, inclusive theater and arts center that provides theatrical training and hands on art training. This academy will enhance the lives of residents and visitors by utilizing the dedication of local volunteers to make productions affordable and accessible to the community of Cabot and the surrounding areas. AFA strives to be a welcoming environment of self-discovery and self-expression to children of the community.

Class Descriptions

Acting 1: This course is an introduction to acting and the actor's creative process. Through physical movement, improvisations, and scene work, students will learn the basics of acting. Students will combine these skills in a Showcase performance (date TBD).

Acting 2: This course will focus on acting techniques that include Stanislavski's Method, The Chekhov Acting Technique, Method Acting, Meisner Acting Technique, and Practical Aesthetics Acting Technique. Students will combine these skills in a Showcase performance (date TBD).

Musical Theatre 1: This course is an introduction to ensemble performance. Students will learn basic vocal techniques and explore Broadway style choreography. Students will combine these skills in a Showcase performance (date TBD).

Musical Theatre 2: This course focuses on theory and anatomy. Students will learn intermediate/advanced vocal techniques and music theory, and they will explore various styles of dance throughout history. Students will combine these skills in a Showcase performance (date TBD).

Costuming 1: Students will learn basic sewing techniques and develop an understanding of the costume construction process. Lessons will include hand stitching, machine sewing, drafting, and using patterns, and they will finish the semester with three complete construction projects.

Directing: Introduction to the art and craft of directing with a specific focus on the elements of a director’s work: play analysis, stage comprehension, visualization and blocking, rehearsal techniques, and the benefits of collaboration.
